  • Three topics I'm interested in are...

What's one language learning habit you would like to start and why?

The aims for today are:

  • getting to know each other
  • getting to know the course and how to best complete it
  • introducing yourself to professors and students
  • majors, interests, futures, countries, universities and questions

Introducing yourself

Introductions

Hi, I'm Belinda Allan. I have a Master of Education and have been teaching in various countries to various ages for almost 2 decades. In the education field, I'm most interested in online and hybrid learning and ICT use in education. My current challenge is to train and encourage more online and hybrid learning with current and future teachers.

Your Introduction

Hi, I'm ________.

(experience in education and learning)

(interests in the education field)

(current challenge within the education field)

Introducing yourself to various people

Would that introduction be appropriate for introducing yourself to:

  • your new professor?
  • your new room-mate while abroad?
  • your new local friend (i.e. a different culture to yours)?
  • a new classmate when abroad?
  • your local shopkeeper/waiter that asked?
  • a potential new friend (found abroad) that is from a fellow Slovak country?

Discuss with your neighbour what to say to introduce yourself to each of the above.

    How to complete this course

    Plagiarism

‘Za plagiátorství lze považovat úmyslné kopírování cizího textu a jeho vydávání za vlastní, nedbalé nebo nepřesné citování použité literatury, opomenutí citace (byť neúmyslné) některého využitého zdroje.’

NOTE: For a language course, writing in Czech and translating using software is also not your own (English) writing and therefore under the same guidelines.

In general, it is easier than you think to determine which writing is yours and what is not your usual writing. Getting software or other people to write your work is a serious offence with serious consequences in any university and could get you expelled.

    Course Completion

We will complete a portfolio of items:

    1. A voice recording of your self-assessment and goals
    2. A short talk with questions and discussion on an interesting topic from your major
    3. Consultation and advising session (with your teacher)
    4. Presentation of study intentions and/or experiences abroad
