Course requirements
●
Attendance (two unexcused absences
are allowed) = otherwise, you need to complete the additional tasks (if you
negotiated having more absences beforehand). You must find time to do the warm-up activity and presentation in class during the semester!
●
Portfolio completion
○ maximum of 70 points
○ You mustn’t have 0 points in any
requirement (including the exam).
○ You need at least 45 points to proceed
to the exam
➔ otherwise you get an “X”!
Exam
●
maximum of 30 points
●
oral exam = discussing your
portfolio and progress (see below)
You
need at least 65/100 points to pass.
This is
the grading scale:
100-93 A
92-86 B
85-79 C
78-72 D
71-65 E
Portfolio
● Your portfolio will be
uploaded online (a Word document /
livebinders.com /...).
● Submit your portfolio at least 3 days
before your selected exam date.
Portfolio
tasks::
● self-assessment and goals (10 p.)
you need to fill in the self-assessment sheet, define
your goals and then sum up what have you done during the semester to improve in
these goals.
●
reflective notebook (10 p.) – like last semester, you need to do 4 English activities outside of
the class and make notes on them using (same format as in the links last year
last year)
●
warm-up activity (10 p.) - Prepare an educational activity for your classmates for about 5-10
minutes. The game/activity should develop our language skills as well as your
teaching skills. In your portfolio, describe the activity and include the
teaching materials, sources, etc. In the portfolio, you shall sum it up,
reflect on how it went, what could have been better etc

presentation (10 p.) - In the class, give a
presentation on an educational topic (you can choose to teach us something from
your field of study or inform us on a piece of news from the field of pedagogy
etc.) + at the end of your presentation, include 3 questions that the class
will discuss afterwards (you should lead the discussion, e.g. first speaking in
pairs or groups, then sharing the thought together with the class). In the
portfolio, you shall sum it up, reflect on how it went, what could have been
better etc

Exam
You
will be examined in pairs. You will introduce and discuss your portfolio and
your personal progress, e.g.
●
what activities you did/didn’t
enjoy
●
which tasks were easy/challenging
for you
●
what skills you improved and how
(Have you achieved your goals?)
●
what methods of learning a
language work best for you and why
●
what your next goals are and how
you want to achieve them
how the course inspired/enriched your own teaching
methods
