Unit 2 - Feelings p.14-23

You learn how to:

  • talk about how you feel - and why
  • respond to good and bad news
  • talk about your life now
  • explain why you can´t - or don´t want to - do things

You are also going to study Response expressions - how to appropriately response in certain situations (role play activities)

Study the vocabulary related to "Feelings" on p. 16 (in Outcomes) and think about verb patterns (see the grammar reference below) and their application in practice, but also the Present simple / continuous rules 

Speaking activity:

look at the handout below, prepare the story and then discuss with your partner, then you will find someone else who you haven´t spoken to yet and discuss again. 

Role play cards to practise exchanging news when you unexpectedly bump into someone

+ also study the usefull phrases on p.21/12 to lead a conversation with someone you haven´t seen long time

What´s your idea of hell - put it into your journal. - This activity is related to speaking activity in our seminar. Write approx.150 words.


This is just an optional activity to improve your writing skills. No only  keeping your Journal.

Reading the article "Free hugs and kisses"

 - skills that you enhance: reading for specific information and responding to information in a text

- so you read the questions related to the article first, then the article itself, try to predict possible answers and discuss in pairs

- find other interesting adjective-noun, or noun-noun combinations in the article and think about other questions you could ask about information in the article.

Optional actvity: web research - find out more about the Free hugs campaign, find out which countries it is most popular in. What speacial Free Hugs events are coming up, and whether the campaign is raising awareness for any other cause currently.
