Introduction to Project Management and Writing

Week 9 - deliverables

OBJECTIVES:

learning to choose suitable deliverables, for a project and to ensure their quality as well as feasibility

OUTLINE:

deliverables – tracking progress and quality/standards = how to check the progress of the project, success (time, scale, budget) and quality of the final product at the end as well as during the project implementation

planning phase project management: track and report progress (=document and communicate) – assess the results and – modify if necessary

TRIPPLE M cycle (manage-monitor [track-report-assess]-modify)

ROLLING-WAVE planning”

Scheduling – creating a GANTT diagram in the Planner explain what it is and why it is useful

OUTCOME:

  • GANT chart in MS Teams (Planner, Canva, Miro,...)
  • list of the DELIVERABLES  - reflecting on your WBS (tasks) and GANT, make a list of all the main deliverables that can help you monitor the progress of the whole project during all the stages. Don’t forget to also ensure that the standards (quality) are observed. Deliverables are the only evidence of your work that the shareholders have at their disposal – it must be clear and TRANSPARENT!!! Use the criteria template below to help you. (Practical note: You can use notes for each task in the MS Teams "Planner" to record the deliverables as well as the people responsible for them.)

Instructions for the Quality criteria template:

  1. Deliverable: Write the name of the deliverable for which you are setting quality criteria.
  2. Quality Criteria: Describe the key quality aspects that the deliverable must meet (e.g., clarity, precision, adherence to guidelines).
  3. Standards to Meet: Specify the standards or benchmarks that the deliverable must adhere to (e.g., "Must follow APA formatting," "Includes all required sections", the product must be functional, …).
  4. Review Method: Outline how the deliverable’s quality will be assessed (e.g., through peer review, checklist, testing).
  5. Completion Check: Indicate how you will verify that the deliverable meets the quality criteria (e.g., final review, sign-off).
  6. Upload the file with deliverables into your MS Teams files (Sharepoint)
