Purpose This program is intended to offer outstanding students of the Japanese language at universities, colleges, and educational institutions abroad the opportunity to visit Japan and to deepen their knowledge of the Japanese language, society, and culture for the purpose of further encouragement of their study. 2. Kansai (Tajirrcho, Sennan-gun, Osaka) and other locations. 4. ffttftB (2) n^ximm 4. Contents of the Program (1.)Lectures on the Japanese language, and social and cultural aspects of Japan.' Eligibility Ehgible to participate in the program are those who: (Dare presently studying the Japanese language or have finished studying it at overseas educational institutions of the Japanese language, etc.; (2)as a general rule, have achieved superior marks in completion of the basic level (more than 300 class hours) or possess the equal ability (who have achieved more than 50 points in the First Phase Test or have been authorized more than Level 3 or Level N4 in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test); 1 (3) m¥. (6) have not stayed in Japan for more than 1 week (Tdays) in the last o years as of the starting day of the program; (7) are in good physical and mental health: (8) hold nationality or permanent residency in the country where the Japanese Embassy or Consulate, or the Japan Foundation overseas office to which an application is made is located: (9.) have not completed compulsory education of Japan; (10) are not scheduled to come to Japan for study or training before March 31, 2012 except under this program; and (11) have nationality of a country- that has diplomatic relations with Japan. Expenses, Allowances and Facilities to be provided by the institute The Institute will bear expenses, or will provide the participants with allowances and facilities, as stipulated in the following articles: (l)Air Ticket The Institute will provide them with air tickets (discount economy class) round-trip between the airport nearest their residences and the Kansai International Airport (Osaka. Others Participants are required to submit a written report (in Japanese) on their impressions or thoughts of the program through the Japan Foundation overseas office or send it to the Institute within one month of returning home.
