1. Topic-Comment Sentence Structure
In Chinese garmmar, a topic could be an object or a subject in the sentences.A topic
mainly leads the gist of the sentence. It usually occurs in the beginning of the sentence in
order to make an emphsis or indicting the range/category .
e.g.苹果他不吃。 e.g.他苹果不吃。 e.g.水果他不吃苹果。

2. 一 ＋V as soon as …… / no sooner than
（1） 一 ＋V+是 VP 的
e.g. 听说我们班来了一个转学生zhuǎnxuéshēng，我一看，没想到是我的堂妹

（2） 一 ＋V1 / VP1 ＋( 就 / 马上 / 就马上 ) + VP2 / V2 as soon as … (then)…

We use this grammar to describe or to give positive / negative comments to the preceding
subject. Words or phrases connective by 又…又… should be semantically / grammatically
relevant.
e.g. （ ）今天的作业又少又难。 e.g. （ ）他又爱做饭，又做得好。
e.g. （ ）我每天晚上上课的时候又累又困。e.g. （ ）他这个周末又想去爬山，又想去看电影。

4. The Emphatic 是
Using in a conversation. Speaker wants to reaffirm his/her approval and giving more positive
（而且）or negative details （可是 / 就是）about the topic in a polite way.
e.g. A：「陈老师的中文课真有趣 / 真有意思。」
Ｂ：「陈老师的中文课（有趣）是有趣，而且作业很少。」
Ｂ：「陈老师的中文课（有趣）是有趣，可是作业有点儿多。」

5. ……不如+Ｓ. + ( Adj. ) ≒	
   	
   ……没有+ Ｓ. + （那么）Adj.
