In the field of Russian language and business [INS: many single stories :INS] can be seen[DEL: many single stories :DEL] . Here are three examples[INS: : :INS] [DEL: . :DEL] First, the Nestor´s manuscript is important source of Russian history, but there is no relevant proof who [INS: real author :INS] is the[DEL: real author :DEL] . [DEL: The :DEL] [INS: S :INS] [DEL: s :DEL] econd, in Russian literature [INS: there :INS] is period called "The [INS: G :INS] [DEL: g :DEL] old[INS: e :INS] [DEL: o :DEL] n [INS: A :INS] [DEL: a :DEL] ge of [INS: R :INS] [DEL: r :DEL] ussian literature", but there [DEL: are :DEL] [INS: is :INS] no scientific evidence proving which period it is exactly. The third example refers to policy. The policy in Russia is complicated and the Russians have different opinions from the rest of the world. The situation in society and policy in Russia is difficult and it is hard to find good solutions.[INS: :INS] [INS: Good points: clarity :INS] [INS: Point to improve: variety of verbs (too many “to be”); sentence structure (subject- verb) :INS] [DEL: :DEL] In the branch of philosophy every idea can be a single story. Philosophers bring [DEL: into their field :DEL] new problems[INS: and :INS] [DEL: , :DEL] questions[INS: into their field :INS] , they react to others philosophers. Each of them can have a different view of this world. For example[INS: , :INS] some philosophers think, that our world is a cylinder or a disk[INS: (reference) :INS] . There is a differen[INS: ce :INS] [DEL: t :DEL] between philosophy and science. According [INS: to :INS] science[INS: , :INS] our world is not like that[INS: (not like what?) :INS] . But in the past these ideas were main points in thinking. Philosophy can give us a brand new [u1] view, but sometimes this view can be too terrifying for us. And also these views can be a single story.[INS: :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Good points: grammatical accuracy :INS] [INS: Point to improve: clarity :INS] [INS: ; variety of verbs (too many “to be”) :INS] [INS: :INS] [DEL: :DEL] [DEL: :DEL] [DEL: :DEL] Studying psychology is not about [u2] reading someone's mind, about judg[INS: ing :INS] [DEL: e :DEL] someone, [DEL: how :DEL] [INS: as :INS] many people think. People sh[DEL: l :DEL] ould think deeper or wider about so much [u3] interesting field. Psychology is not just about Freud and sex, there is so many interesting [u4] scientists and their research[INS: e :INS] rs. Also general public should know that psychologists can[DEL: :DEL] not read their thoughts also that psychologists are not judges.[INS: :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Good points: grammatical accuracy; clarity :INS] [INS: Points to improve: register (choice of words and phrases), level of formality :INS] In the field of European [INS: S :INS] [DEL: s :DEL] tudies[INS: , :INS] the society is not aware of what [DEL: are :DEL] the job opportunities and possibilities for this field[INS: are :INS] . In this context, however[INS: , :INS] we also encounter that people do not understand the content[DEL: s :DEL] of those studies, which is related to the inability to identify the job possibilities. The name of the filed, European Studies, brings considerable amount of bias[DEL: :DEL] , because study of the European Union is not considered as a single focus. [INS: Good points: :INS] [INS: level of formality and style :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Points to improve: :INS] [INS: sentence structure :INS] [INS: :INS] Studying a political science along with security and strategy is a concept[DEL: , :DEL] that is hard to grasp for many people. The former is generally associated with being a guard in a shop. Latter is connected to active participation in politics, with a personal gain aim. Ac[INS: c :INS] ording to Veronika, explaining the exact field of study in those two subjects is exhausting[DEL: , :DEL] because organized crime, which is her main research subject, creates a cognitive shortcut to mafia, [DEL: that :DEL] [INS: which :INS] is incorrectly perceived to be the same thing. Researching the organized crime [DEL: for many people :DEL] substit[INS: ut :INS] es for [u5] a police work[INS: for many people :INS] . Field researcher[INS: s :INS] [INS: are :INS] [DEL: is :DEL] also bound to find heads of horses, just like in the Godfather movie. While Veronika has positive attitude towards working in special services, she assumes that Faculty of Social Studies will not open a sufficient major for a long time. [INS: Good points: :INS] [INS: level of formality and style :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Points to improve: :INS] [INS: relative clauses, accuracy of expressions :INS] [INS: :INS] Czech Republic has [INS: had :INS] a democratic political system since the Velvet Revolution in 1989. It is characterised by an equally participation on the government of all eligible citizens. The Czech Constitution declares an equal right to vote, a respect for human rights etc.[u6] According to last studies[INS: (reference) :INS] Czech people perceive democracy principles as a certain part of their lives. But they have not accepted yet that these principles have to be supported by democratic behaviour of the whole society, eg. participation in [DEL: an :DEL] election[INS: s :INS] , follow[u7] the law. [INS: :INS] [INS: Good points: :INS] [INS: level of formality and style, :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Points to improve: :INS] [INS: tenses, accuracy of words :INS] [INS: :INS] Brno is a historical city with [DEL: a :DEL] great cultural opportunities. This is a fact[DEL: , :DEL] which we can read on the official website of Brno in this form: „More than 20 festivals of culture and theatre take place in the city each year[DEL: . :DEL] “[INS: . (reference) :INS] Brno, [INS: or :INS] [DEL: exactly :DEL] [INS: more precisely, the :INS] [DEL: Vila :DEL] Tugendhat [INS: Vila :INS] is also [INS: a :INS] member of [INS: The :INS] Unesco World Heritage Centre, [DEL: how :DEL] [INS: as :INS] we can see on the World Heritage List. Domina[INS: nt :INS] [DEL: ting :DEL] historical features of the city are the fortress of Špilberk castle and the Cathedral of St[DEL: s :DEL] . Peter and Paul. Now we can say, that city is historical too.[u8] [DEL: Population :DEL] [INS: Brno :INS] [INS: inhabitants :INS] spend [DEL: your :DEL] [INS: their :INS] leisure time in [DEL: the other :DEL] [INS: different :INS] way[INS: s :INS] [u9] than we suppose. Most of us prefer watching TV or shopping [DEL: before :DEL] [INS: to :INS] attending cultural or sports events. The proof is sociological research called: „Leisure in the Czech Republic in a Brief Comparison with European Countries“ . [INS: The s :INS] [DEL: S :DEL] urvey was published by Jiří Šafr, Věra Patočková in 2010. The most favo[INS: u :INS] rite ways[DEL: , how :DEL] [INS: :INS] to spend leisure time according to this research are watching TV, listening [INS: to :INS] music and browsing on the internet. On the other hand[INS: , :INS] attending sports and cultural events (like theatre or museum) and going to the cinema are the least popular ways. This is a bad news for everyone, who is interested in [DEL: the :DEL] culture. [INS: Good points: :INS] [INS: clarity :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Points to improve: :INS] [INS: choice of words, grammar (prepositions, articles) :INS] [INS: :INS] Nowadays[INS: , :INS] there are a lot of students who decide to study social science. Even students in Brno can study at Faculty of [INS: S :INS] [DEL: s :DEL] ocial [INS: S :INS] [DEL: s :DEL] tudies[INS: , :INS] which is one of the most respected institu[INS: t :INS] [DEL: c :DEL] ion[INS: s :INS] not only in Czech Republic[INS: , …but also where? :INS] . One of the fields of study at the faculty is [INS: P :INS] [DEL: p :DEL] olitical [INS: S :INS] [DEL: s :DEL] cience[INS: , :INS] which was f[INS: o :INS] [DEL: a :DEL] unded in 1990. Students who study this field encounter many question[INS: s :INS] from their surroundings. One of common[INS: (frequent?) :INS] question[INS: s :INS] is about their future job. Another one is if they want to be politicians. In th[INS: ese :INS] [DEL: is :DEL] case[INS: s :INS] students have to explain what political science is and what areas they can focus on - transformation of non- democratic regimes, political marketing, project management in non-gover[INS: n :INS] mental organizations[INS: , :INS] etc.[INS: (see the Comment6) :INS] After the expla[DEL: i :DEL] n[INS: ation, :INS] [DEL: :DEL] some people might understand the aim of the field, but some of them will still consider it useless. However[INS: , :INS] each field has its supporters [INS: a :INS] [DEL: o :DEL] nd opponents, but in my opinion [u10] it is important to have well educated people in the society. My field of study is a combination of psychology and sociology. The reaction of the public is mostly negative. They have[INS: no :INS] [DEL: n´t :DEL] knowledge about this discipline. Public ha[INS: s no :INS] [DEL: ven´t :DEL] exact numbers about future work and income of these students. They usually guess that you will be fast food worker. The public usually thinks that psychology is some sort of mind reading. They usually expect some sort of conclusions without any kind of deeper analysis. If they do[INS: not :INS] [DEL: n´t :DEL] get [DEL: some :DEL] [INS: any :INS] conclusions in a few minutes, they start being disappointed. [INS: Good points: :INS] [INS: variety of grammatical features and vocabulary :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Points to improve: :INS] [INS: consistent register and style, clarity (the last paragraph is close to a speaking style) :INS] [INS: :INS] [DEL: :DEL] My first question was can I find [u11] some single story in my branch of European Studies? Afterwards my thoughts of this problem solved it. Owing to the subject of [DEL: :DEL] Compar[INS: i :INS] [DEL: a :DEL] s[DEL: i :DEL] on of European Political [DEL: systems :DEL] [INS: Sstems :INS] [u12] . Mr. Lijphrat –political theoretician in his research study distinguished two specific types of the political systems we can observe in the reality of politics. The first one was based on majority – who receives the most of the votes wins, the second was con[DEL: s :DEL] tradictory – proportional – based on the proportional distribution of votes among participated elements. His theory has been very reliable in theoretical class. But reality is different, each country in the world has got [INS: their :INS] own typical system. Despite the [DEL: fact :DEL] divi[INS: sion :INS] [DEL: ding :DEL] [INS: of :INS] systems into two categories, the reality is much more difficult. Systems in various countries include sundry basis on which system works and comes from. We could not say that majority system gives this type of results and proportional th[INS: at :INS] [DEL: is :DEL] type of results in every single occurrence. [INS: :INS] [INS: Good points: :INS] [INS: level of formality and style :INS] [INS: :INS] [INS: Points to improve: :INS] [INS: clarity, spell-check use, :INS] [INS: level of de-personalisation :INS] [INS: :INS] ________________________________ [u1]„brand new“ is not an academic registr, words such as „novel“; innovative“ sound better. [u2]this phrase is too infomral. [u3]it is too informal, what about: extremely interesting? [u4]repetition [u5]„is a synonym for“? maybe [u6]„etc.“ is not common, it suggests we have nothing more to say… [u7]obey, respect, [u8]not clear, what is meant here …something like – „the above mentioned examples show the city is historical“, for exmaple? [u9]the other: this would mean there is only one way of spending time other than what we suppose [u10]too subjective for some disciplines [u11]the use of „I“ and „my“ is in many branches very rare [u12]This is not sentence, just a fraction.
