Avanti Popolo/Raffi Bukaee – 1986 Valerie Štanglová 462861 1. What is the film's Theme? (What is the film about?) The film tells a story of two soldiers returning home after the end of sixday war. 2. What is special and unique in this film in the context of an Israeli film that deals with the Israeli-Arab conflict? It is a story two Arab soldiers, even though it is an Israeli film. 3. What is the meaning of the information written at the end just before the credit rolls, about Rasan and Haled? What's its function? What feelings it gave you and what thoughts does it motivate? I think it explains alot how was dealt with bodies of enemies and soldiers in general, that they were not just "left in the desert" but eventually they were burried like a proper soldiers. I think it also might give the characters some kind of proper end, because they were killed quickly and all of suden, without somekind of epilogue or warning or something, and knowing they at least were burried properly gives the audience somekind of hope they weren't "slaughtered" for nothing. 4. Describe the final scene in one sentence. How does it express visually the film's theme? The whole time, despite going "back home" the two soldiers are probably toying with the idea of death, yet everytime they are close they get scared, and at the end, when they are technically meters from safe ground they are killed, but also at least one of them reached the river Jordan, and that was their goal, so despite the death at least one of them got there.
