What is my identity? I think this question can be answered in many aspects. Because I have finished a video call with my mom, so my first identity is my parents’ daughter. I have to recognize that I was born in a warm and sweet family. In China, the preference for sons over daughters has been serious all the time. Especially in the year I was born, every family was eager for a son. I was the only girl in the delivery room that my mother stayed. Fortunately, my parents are open-minded. They think girls and boys are the same even girls are better. They treated me very well and never make decisions for me. They created an excellent family atmosphere for me, letting me grow up happily. I have to say my characteristic is related to my family. My mom always told me be honest and kind to others. My dad always taught be strong enough and be confident. My good personalities are all owing to them. So what does daughter this identify make influence on me? I know my responsibility. I need to accompany them when they are old, I need to care about them when they could not take care of themselves. I love them, but I am a person who is shy to express love, so I have done many things for them. When I earned my first bucket of money, I bought vitamins for my parents. My parents are not familiar with on-line shopping, so I will help them to buy what they need. The identity of a daughter makes me realize I need to work hard so that I could treat my parents well just as they treated me before. My second identity is a college student. More specifically, I am an exchange student from China. I am eager to learn something fresh here. I hope I could gain different views during my stay in Brno. I am a student, so I should keep in mind study is my prime task. My third identity is Chinese. As an exchange student, I am not only representing my own university, but also representing China. Being a Chinese reminds me to behave well especially in public. So how can we define identity? In my opinion, we can define our identities based on our environment. When I am at home, I am my parents’ daughter. When I am in school, I am a student. When I am abroad, I am a Chinese. But pay attention, these identities always accompany you, just like your own icons. In certain circumstances, some identities are dominant while others are implicit. More importantly, your identity would remind you what you should do. If you are a student, just study hard and keep asking questions. If you are a teacher, being kind and answering questions. Different identities have different responsibilities. All of us know what we are required to do based on our identities.
