Chinese serial Princess Silver

The last television show I have watched was Chinese serial Silver princess. I have watched it on
YouTube. That’s great that Chinese serials are freely available on the internet and with English
subtitles. Without English subtitles I wouldn’t understand one word but in this way it’s perfect.
This Chinese television serial is from this year 2019 and it is based on the novel of Bai Fa Wang
Fei.

I would like to introduce in a short way what is it about: Rong Le, princess of the royal family
lost her memory. She is ordered to marry Wu You, prince from the neighborhood, he refused her and
she is unable to return home and she opens a tea house under the name Man Yao. It is rumored that
the Qin family hide an extraordinary book which can bring prosperity for all the kingdoms, so Rong
Le is looking for this book. Rong Le in disguise meets Wu You and fall in love with him. But Rong
Le brother force her to marry the powerful general Fu Chou…

When I’m thinking about genre I can’t decided for only once. I think it could be historical
fiction, romance, drama. Serial take place in fictional world (or I suppose it, but I don’t know
very much about Chinese history, so maybe there could be a parallel) which should exist in ancient
times.

I think it really meets conditions for calling it drama because at the beginning is a short putting
into action of serial which creates basic understanding of the story and very quickly dramatic
elements appears. Main heroine of the story has been struggling with many conflicts which were
evolved and changed during the whole series: do what she wants herself or save her country and
people, be with a man she loves or be with man who lied to her and forces her to do thing she
condemns as wrong, does her brother love her or he is as evil as others? The story is becoming more
and more tangled and new realities are emerging. Characters who were at the first sight the nicest
eventually turn out to be the worst of all, and characters who are hated almost the whole duration
of serial are good at heart and they had good reasons for their behavior. Only in the last episodes
we find out how it really was, who is who and their intentions.

This serial isn’t for everyone because it is set into ancient times and it also includes fantasy
elements and not everybody likes these types of serials. Purpose of this TV show is to entertain
and to bring the past closer and show it to today’s people.

I couldn’t stop watch this serial. It was so amazing from the start to the end. It was very
trilling, every moment, episode makes me feel like I’m insane…I was still thinking about what is
the true or not, what is real or only illusion, who is good and who evil. I couldn’t be sure about
anything, every episode could change everything. When I had a feeling like: “Yes I know the point”,
I very quickly found I know nothing. My fantasy was working very hard imaging the all possible
options.  I think creators did it very well because it was thrilling from the beginning to the end
and the ending was quite surprising. The series ended with happy end for the main couple and I love
happy ends, but not in this series. It doesn’t fit me there. I think it would be better let the end
more opened for audience imagination. I watched the whole serial in a few days, I had to because I
wanted so much to know what would happen next.
