1. Last week we discussed what friction is, and what showing versus telling when applied to writing is, and more importantly, why that concept is so important (think back to what really is the color blue, and what is anger for you versus anger for me?). You were all really thrilled by the idea of talking about television shows or films, and aside from the occasional double conversation, that was awesome. So, I want you to focus on one of your favorite television shows (or, one that you are currently watching, or have watched recently), and I want you to answer some of these driving questions about it:
- If you had to determine it's genre, audience, and purpose, what would they be? What led you to these conclusions?
- What really draws you in about that particular show, i.e. why do you keep watching it, or why did you watch it until its ending? What do you think that the creators done really well, and what do you think could be improved?
- If you finished the show, was the ending satisfying? Did you watch it sequentially (weekly, maybe?) or all in one sitting? And depending on which way you watched it, why did you choose this (if it was only released weekly...why not wait until the series ends to start it?)?

2. Based on our individual feedback meetings, work on your first draft of your project. Your first draft will be due by Sunday, November 17th (adjusted date from syllabus). Remember, for your first draft, you're not supposed to get it right, but rather you're supposed to get it written. Once you've finished your first draft, upload it in the homework vault below.

3. Next week we're going to continue focusing on writing concepts and techniques. Below I've linked a few more different contrasting term explanations. Again, most are quite short, spanning only 2-3 pages. In class next week I want to hear, in your words, how you understand these terms, and see if we can come up with some examples. We will continue with the terms we still had left from last week, and we will continue with those below (that's why there are fewer this week).
3a. Analysis versus unpacking
3b. Form versus content
3c. Formal versus informal
And finally, your favorite part, your English comic for the week:
