you have registered for the course Building AI this semester. 

Building AI a flexible online course for anyone who wants to learn about the practical methods that make artificial intelligence a reality. You will get a solid introduction to for example machine learning and neural networks, and you will learn where and how AI methods are applied in real life. 

It is easy to move freely between the three difficulty levels, from multiple choice exercises to programming with Python – depending on whether you know programming or not. 

As a result of this course, you will be able to craft your own AI idea and present it to the community.

How to successfully complete the course:

• Successful completion of the course on the Building AI platform and obtaining a certificate.
• Completion of a reflective questionnaire. We will verify your successful completion of the course directly with the University of Helsinki according to your enrolment email.

The reflective questionnaire will be made available in the interactive curriculum during the semester. You will be notified by email. 

Certificate:

Doing the online course is free of charge. For the successful completion of the course, you have to sign up by study email. We will verify your successful completion of the course directly with the University of Helsinki according to your enrolment email. 

If you want an official certificate to download, you can purchase the Building AI certificate for €50. The certificate will become available upon successful completion of the course.

How to assess success in passing the course:

The course itself is not graded, but the number of assignments you complete is tracked. You must complete at least 90% of the assignments, of which at least 50% must be answered correctly, to receive the certificate. Correctness is calculated as the average correctness of all the tasks completed (so all tasks have the same weight). Open answers are counted as 100% correct if they have been approved.

Course Study Period:

You may study the course at any time during the fall semester of 2024. The deadline for completing the course and completing the reflective questionnaire is December 31, 2024. After that, we have to contact the University of Helsinki to verify your successful completion of the course.
