Daniel Churchill
Please see Daniel Churchill: Digital Resources for Learning from 2017. Chapters 1-3.4 (pages 1-53). It's almost textbook text, so it's quick and easy to read.
Daniel Churchill is now at the University of Hong Kong, working on how different technologies are transforming the nature of education. His work shows that technology is not just something that makes an explanation more transparent and understandable but is redrawing the meaning and goals of education. His writings combine a visionary view of change, emphasising practicality, concreteness and materiality. The aim of this reading is to think together about what changes working with digital resources can bring about in education. It shows that this is a fundamental change in the educational paradigm that will emancipate the learner and their activity.
The book can be obtained variously but is also available online:
Instructions for writing a review
In your reflection (approximately 1-2 pages), please try to focus on the following questions:
- What could be transferred from the book to your study field?
- What practical suggestions would you give your teachers and departments (or me)?
- What will education look like in ten years?
I wish you enjoyable reading and thinking about education, and have a great fall!
