ABOUT THE COURSE

 

Dear students,

Welcome to the course English for Earth Science for geologists (JAG02) and geographers (JAZ02). I am Věra Hranáčová and I am currently teaching English to Earth Science students, but I also taught math and medical students at MU.

Course Objectives
In this course Earth processes
will be studied in many reading and listening activities and academic English language will be practiced by comparing various examples and giving main ideas. If you are a student of the first year, read the information about both exams on www.sci.muni.cz to decide whether you really need to enroll exam in English JA001 in this term or skip it and sit for the exam JA002 in the fourth term - May exam dates will be availabe in IS in April.

Course Pre-requisites (Entrance level)
Preferably for students who have passed the English course JAG01 or JAZ01 at the Faculty of Science. Other intermediate or higher level students who want to join this course are supposed to go through the syllabus of the first term and get the necessary knowledge.
With lower level you will hardly be able to participate and work reasonably well.

Credit Requirements

80% face to face lessons - active presence
One credit test
6 e-learning home tests.

Write your letters in English, please. Subject: JAG02 or JAZ02 + the day and time of your seminar group, your name plus your problem. I will also appreciate corrections of mistakes in my texts and all good suggestions - in that case use the subject: Syllabus JAG02.
