Dear Course Organizers, I am applying for enrolment in your course Global Education – Opportunities and Challenges, which will start on March 26, 2009 in Prague, Cambridge University Education Centre. My name is Cornelia Brown and currently I am working as an English teacher at Language Centre of Munich University. I teach pre-graduate and postgraduate students at the School of Environmental Studies, University Munich; altogether I have been teaching English for 10 years. Apart from the above mentioned I have recently been involved in a project work while designing and organizing a university course devoted to Scientific Writing. The students of this course are doctoral students of different backgrounds and fields such as environmental and development studies, human geography and sociology. Our focus in the course is to present the main characteristics of written as well as spoken discourse. The topics dealt with in the course will predominantly concern a number of global issues. After having read the seminar outline, I believe that in the course of my work I will be able to draw largely on the ideas and issues presented during the event. I have already attended your seminar “Global Issues in ELT“ in September 2008, which you successfully organized here in Munich. I remember a very well organized workshop with a vast amount of innovative, inspirational and enriching input. I would like to learn more on how to treat various global topics, which in effect should improve my insight into the issues themselves as well as into the appropriate and effective teaching techniques. Thank you very much for considering my request. Yours sincerely, Cornelia Brown Language Centre of Munich University Hauptland Strasse 6, Munich www.language-centre.umu.de brown.cornelia@umu.de 0034 (0) 732-824-016
