To prepare for the credit test, go through all worksheets we covered in our online lessons as well as the online exercises in the Interactive Outline.

To prepare for the JA001 exam, go through all "Exam Practice" exercises and complete the Mock Exam again (Week 6). You can also complete the "Self-Study Grammar Exercises"

The Oral Part of the JA001 Exam. Overview of topics we covered in the seminar. You can speak about them in the oral exam.

  1. Define two terms from your field of study and support them with relevant examples (black holes, event horizon, singularity, accretion disc, superconductivity, superposition of states, composite materials, smart materials)
  2. Present a (controversial) problem related to your field of study. (see your presentation)
  3. Describe and explain a process / notion / experiment within your field of study (How to generate heat - process, Schrodinger's cat experiment, explanaining why Mars is red)
  4. Compare and contrast phenomena from your field of study (superconductivity vs semiconductivity, composite materials x smart materials)
  5. Classify systems in your field of study (black holes, smart materials - thermochromic and electrochromic)
  6. Describe a cause and effect relationship from your field of study. (the effects on the human body in space)
  7. Speculate on an issue from your field of study (What would happen if you fell into a black hole?, Mars exploration)
