10-15            yrs: Self-taught

·       Minimum 30 new words every day

·       Grammar system tables

·       Speaking with native speakers

·       Singing English songs

·       Watching films with subtitles

·       Reading books in English

·       Writing letters and my own diary in English

15-19 yrs: English class in a secondary school, taught by  an excellent teacher married to an
Englishman, school-leaving exam in English, A-level

19 yrs: prep-course for the state exam in English at the State Language School in Brno, finished
with the exam

19-24: studies at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno

·         Five-year course in English language and literature, teaching program, M-level

·        Five-year course in Czech language and literature, teaching program, M -level

·        Two (2) terms of film science

·        One (1) term studying at the Dept. of English at Leeds University

Degrees: Czech MA  (Mgr.)in English and Czech language and literature

Other languages studied: Spanish (course-leaving exam at the Language School in Santa Clara, Cuba),
Russian, German, French, Sanskrit and some vocabulary in other languages during my travels or jobs
(Lithuanian, Greek, Finnish, Hebrew)


Employment

·       freelance teacher, also teaching  in a secondary school (I year), Military Academy for
foreign students (1 term), State Language School (2 years), Easy English private school (1 year),
instructor at the Language Centre, MU at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine (since
1993, except for maternity leave 1995-2001)

·       Team translator of Essentials in Oceanography (together with my students of English)

·       Interpreter and translator for US and Finnish companies during my university studies, for
YMCA since 2000.
