CONTENT OF THE COURSE:

English for Specific Purposes (for Mathematics) - ESP - work with specialized texts, audio and video, vocabulary build up

Academic English  - EAP - jobs and careers, job interview and cover letter, academic vocabulary 

No textbook. I have prepared materials - handouts which are available in ihe information system. I expect you to print them out and bring them to seminars.

OBJECTIVES

moving towards   B2+  level skills needed for reading, listening, speaking and writing about Mathematical topics

PRE-REQUISITES 

- entrance level B1+
With lower level you may find it too difficult to participate and work reasonably well. With higher level you may have different expectations, so consider registering for a different course, e.g.  Výběrová angličtina JA003, or a course from Autonomous Learning section. CREDITS - IF YOU MEET THE REQUIREMENTS:

• attendance is compulsory after you have enrolIed on the course, in case of an ilness or unexpected duties you can miss max two seminars during the whole semester
• homework is compulsory - completion of activities before and after sessions; coming unprepared for the lesson may result in counting an absence for this lesson
• spoken & written semestral assignments:  1. job interview role-play, 2. CV and cover letter, 3. test in week 13.
