Graphic Correlation Assignments



Assignment 1  - Due 17:00, 20 October


A

Using the excel data sets and plots for Frasnian conodont ranges – some have already been prepared
– make a line of correlation for Schmidt-Benner different than the all points best fit, or my
example.  Put your composite on the x-axis as a “German composite standard” and plot the Devils
Gate data against it.


B

Using the excel data sets and plots of Frasnian conodont ranges – some have already been prepared –
make a line of correlation for the Lali-Zhang et al. vs Lali Ji and Ziegler.  Evaluate and turn in.


Assignment 2 – 17:00, 27 October


Make a Lali composite and plot against the Klapper composite section.  Evaluate and turn in your
result.



Assignment 3 – 17:00, 03 November


Using the stratigraphic columns and magnetic susceptibility (MS) data from the four Akzo cores plot
the MS trends, name them, and assign bases and tops to each trend, as well as the marker beds.
Produce a composite section of the MS trends and then plot one of the original four sections
against the composite.  Evaluate and turn in the result.
