The aim of the course is to introduce the linguistic aspects of English for Specific Purposes. The course will offer an insight into theoretical perspectives informing ESP and major issues ESP practitioners deal with, such as needs analysis, course and material design, evaluation of teaching and learning, etc.


Credit requirements:

- attendance: you can miss 2 sessions without penalty (emails neither needed nor wanted)

- completed homework

- evaluation of chosen ESP materials + presentation in the class (14th Oct)

- a lesson plan for a particular ESP area (to be submitted) + presentation and microteaching in the class 


MICROTEACHING ASSIGNMENT

Design a 90-minute ESP session (ideally in pairs) using the lesson plan template below. Submit the lesson plan into the folder below - the deadline is 5 p.m. the day before your microteaching.

Prepare to present the plan in max. 5 minutes and teach a chosen activity in 10 minutes   /20 minutes if teaching in a tandem.

Total time: 15min solo teachers, 25min tandem.
