Organization of study

Dear students,

The subject of Surgery is present in both semesters within the IV. year. It is divided into Surgery I (VLCH0731p - lectures, VLCH0731c - tutorials) in the autumn semester and Surgery II (VLCH0832p, VLCH0832c) in the spring semester, in the form of a bloc training of 2 x 10 teaching days.

Teaching of surgery is performed in:

Department of Pediatric Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology

First Department of Surgery of St. Anne’s University Hospital.

Surgery clinic of University Hospital Brno

Clinic of accident surgery of University Hospital Brno

Second Department of Surgery of St. Anne’s University Hospital.

Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery of University Hospital Brno

Department of Traumatology of Trauma Hospital Brno

Department of Orthopedic Surgery of St. Anne’s University Hospital.

Department of Orthopedic Surgery of University Hospital Brno

Within your training, you will go through the individual lessons (days) on the above mentioned departments according to the timetable for your group published in is.muni.cz under tab seminar groups. The lecture start usually at 7:30 until 12:30, but behalf on mentioned departments, please check your timetable in is.muni.cz (follow your seminary group).

You will receive training cards in the departments in which you’ll begin your lessons. These training cards are used to verify your attendance on the individual lessons confirmed with a stamp and signature of the lecturer of the given lesson,

After the end of teaching, the cards will be submitted at the department in which the bloc of your learning will end.

At the same time, the attendance will be recorded electronically in is.muni.cz.

Subject conclusion - credit

In the autumn semester, the credit  will be granted for 100% attendance on the individual lessons. In the spring semester, the credit will be granted for 100% attendance and passing of a surgical test at 70 % at least. You can take the test at any time after the completion of your bloc training, through is.muni.cz, but on 5 September at the latest. The test will consist of questions from presentations published in study materials within the interactive syllabi of VLCH0731p, VLCH0832p.There is always only one correct answer in the test.

 You can use the study materials within the interactive syllabi for VLCH0731c, VLCH0832c to prepare for the individual lessons. The study materials also include links to study literature from the individual lessons. The presentation is copyrighted work created by employees of Masaryk university. Students are allowed to make copies for learning purposes only any unauthorised reproduction or distribution of the presentation or individual slides is against the law.

You need to resolve any absences and possibly take substitute lessons in the departments in which the absence has occurred, specifically after a consultation with a representative for teaching of the given department.

In case of a long-term absence, you need to make the necessary arrangements with the office for studies and a necessary switch to a different seminar group.
