Interactive Syllabus

Dear students,

welcome to the course English for Geography JAZ02.

My name is Eva Čoupková and I am currently teaching English to geography and maths students at Masaryk University.

I have prepared thirteen geographical topics for you. The topics can be divided into three groups – cartography, physical, and human geography. Some topics are specific, relating to current events (Three Gorges Dam), some are more general (Map Projections). Topics are divided into thirteen lessons, one topic or lesson for one week of the term. But you do not have to follow any strict order of topics, feel free to choose whatever subject interests you.

The layout of the lessons follows the same pattern: there is the text, cut into several parts, vocabulary, a set of exercises and references. Exercises check your understanding of the text, deal with specific geographical terms, practice sentence constructions and grammar problems from the text. References may offer you, if you are interested, further information on the topic. After completing all exercises you may check your results.
