Psychiatry - practicals (group 32, 33)
Info
Term
autumn 2020

The Faculty of Medicine management follows the current government restrictions due to SARS-CoV-2 pandemics that say that future healthcare professionals' seminars and practicals are supposed to be held normally, not as online teaching. It means students are supposed to attend practicals in person.

However, during the previous semester, we have created a substantial amount of interesting study materials, and this interactive syllabus allows students to access it.

This material is not complementary for the credit. Students can review it at their convenience.

1 Theory

Presentation and study texts are available in the IS. The presentations were initially designed to be used by the teacher in the class and therefore, can only serve as a brief introduction to the topic because they usually do not cover the topic in depth.

Videos of presentations and lectures from the previous semester are archived in MS Stream channels in English, Czech and Czech with English subtitles.

2 Clinical reasoning training

Basic clinical reasoning training is supplemented by virtual patients (interactive case scenarios or "labyrinths" in the OpenLabyrinth application. Currently, 6 virtual patients are available in English.

3 Demonstrations

There are patient's assessment videos available in the IS in Czech. Furthermore, videos will be uploaded also to MS Stream (in English, Czech and Czech with English subtitles). There are several other videos in English available on YouTube:

4 Practice tests

Each day of the course, a practice test will be available. These tests serve the students to self-test and at the same time to understand how the examinators think and what they might ask in the exam. Students can try each test several times. There is not any score threshold to pass the test.

5 Credit test

The credit test will be available the last day of the Psychiatry block and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Although students can start the test anytime within this period, they only have 30 minutes to answer the whole test. The test is a single-correct answer test. To pass the test, 10 out of 13 correct answers are needed.

6 Credit requirements

Following requirements has to be met to obtain credit:

  1. The credit test
  2. A maximum of 1 absence

7 Exams

Psychiatry course is completed with the final examination. Only students with credit from the course "Psychiatry - practice" are allowed to attend the final exam. Currently, it is possible to attend the final examination personally. However, in case the student is unable to travel to attend the final examination, it is possible to take the final exam in a distance form.

The detailed information about the final examination can be found in "Psychiatry - lecture: General information" interactive syllabus.
