  • get a book Česky krok za krokem 1 (textbook, including grammar and vocabulary appendix: link + workbook: link) - available in any bookstore in Brno

How to study

  • follow this interactive syllabus
  • follow your teacher's instructions
  • use the textbook and workbook (if possible, printed one: you will need it for 6 semesters)
  • use the PDF dictionaries (see link above) for vocabulary in the exercises; you can use google translator as well for whole phrases
    • if you use the (PDF) dictionaries, do not look for the exact form you do not understand; look for the most similar form
    • → studovat (to study) could also look like: studuju (I study), studuješ (you study)...
  • each week new sources and tasks will be unlocked
  • complete the exercises and according to the instructions
    • upload them on IS (link will be provided)
    • check them with the key (link)
    • check them online (for online exercises)
    • check your answer in the ROPOT app within IS

Passing the subject

  • attend the classes (you can miss 2 of them without proper excuse), students are allowed to substitute a maximum of TWO classes with another group (check the conditions in the course information)
  • pass the final test: passmark 70 %
  • final test passmark can be reduced by:
    • passing the PROGRESS TESTS: 
      • the basic limit for passing all tests is 70 %
      • progress tests are obligatory for all students
      • in case of passing five Progress tests the basic limit in the credit test is reduced by 10 % (each test = 2 %)
      • final test can be skipped if you score at least 90 % of possible points from all the progress tests
1st week: LEKCE 1/1: Communicative Competency: Introduction, Greetings. Phrases in the classroom. Instructions. Where are you from? What do you do? Grammar: Czech alphabet. Pronunciation. Vowels, diphthongs. Consonants, assimilation of consonants in groups. Personal pronouns. The verb "být".
