Základní problémy

  • Why we need philosophy in Business Economics and Management in general
  • Why we need a New (pragmatic) Enlightenment: Consequences for strategic thinking
  • Reflecting the chances of and for a New (3rd or pragmatic) Enlightenment

    Kontrolní otázky

    • ”This sentenze contains three mistackes” . Can you put your finger on the third mistake?
    • If it rains or snows and does not rain , then … ? Is the answer to this question empirical or logical?
    • The European Enlightenment was intended to free the human mind and overcome blind authority. There were “modern physics” (Newton) and the so called “Social Contract” (J.J.Rousseau) at stake. An important point was “to think for oneself” and to rely on one’s own intellectual capacities (Kant) in determining and what to believe and how to act. Why we, however, need a new (pragmatic) Enlightenment?
    • “Philosophy of Science” (roughly speaking) was developed out of new foundations of modern logic (overcoming Aristotelian logic) and finally lead to modern computers. Do you think there are limits to the application of this kind of “computational/algorithmic” thinking especially in economics?
    • Wittgenstein (simplified) is often quoted to have claimed that the “meaning” of a word is established by the rules of its use in language. What do you think about?
    • Picabia once roughly wrote: “Our head is round so that our thinking can change direction”. What is the point of this joke?
