The content and dates of assignments and tests are the same for students in the combined form of study as for full-time students.

Literature
    required literature
  • WILTON, Nick. An introduction to human resource management . 5th ed. Los Angeles: Sage, 2022. ISBN 978-1-5297-5370-7. (mandatory chapters specified for individual topics) info
    recommended literature
  • ARNOLD, John, Iain COYNE, Ray RANDALL and Fiona PATTERSON. Work psychology: understanding human behavior in the workplace . 7th edition. Harlow, England: Pearson, 2020. xxv, 626. ISBN 9781292269436. info
  • ROBBINS, Stephen P. and Timothy A. JUDGE. Organizational behavior . 17 global edition. Boston: Pearson, 2017. 739 pages. ISBN 9781292146348. info

Lectures and seminars (and tutorials) are designed to complement the required literature. They usually deliberately do not cover the related chapters in the textbook in their full breadth, but go deeper into some topics that the textbook does not cover or covers only marginally. In order to successfully master the subject, knowledge from the compulsory textbook and face-to-face teaching is necessary. Studying the textbook alone is not enough to pass the final test.

Course Completion Requirements

It is possible to get 100 points + 12 bonus points for attendance in the subject. To complete the course, the student must meet the minimum number of points in the exam test and the individual and team task (see below in brackets) and obtain at least 60 points for the entire semester. In addition, MPH_RLIZ students (full-time Human Resource Management) must attend seminars (max. 2 unexcused absences).

Grades: A (90+ points), B(83-89), C(75-82), D(67-74), E(60-66), F(0-59)

Attendance at lectures: 0 - 12 (1 point per lecture)

Attendance

For each lecture/seminar/tutorial participation, students get bonus points. Only students who attend the lesson from beginning to end and who devote themselves to the lesson the entire time are entitled to bonus points.

Attendance at lectures is recorded automatically by placing the ISIC on the reader at the classroom entrance. If the student wants to receive points for participation, he must attach his ISIC to the reader before the start or immediately after the end of the lecture. If the student forgets the ISIC or forgets to attach the ISIC, the points will not be awarded retroactively.

Attendance at the seminar or tutorial is recorded by the teacher during the seminar for all students who are present at that moment. If any of the students present leaves the seminar/tutorial before its end and without agreement with the teacher, their bonus points for participation may be deleted. Bonus points are not awarded to students who have an excused or unexcused absence. In case of cancellation of classes, all enrolled students receive bonus points.

Full-time students can only go to the seminar group in which they are enrolled in IS. In exceptional cases, it is possible to agree on compensation for participation in another seminar group. Compensation for participation must always be approved in advance by the teacher. The teacher does not have to accommodate the student if the higher number of students in the seminar does not allow the quality implementation of the planned activities.

Task assignment
     Individual task: Reflection
For questions regarding reflection, contact doc. Jakub Prochazka (jak.prochazka@mail.muni.cz)

The student prepares a written reflection of what he has learned during the semester. The reflection answers the following questions:
a) What are the most important insights you gained during the course (1-4 specific insights)? Why?
b) What else do you need to learn in HRM to be successful as a manager, business owner or HR employee? Why?
c) How do you acquire this knowledge?
Date: 13.12. (submit as an MS Word document in IS)
Page limit: minimum 250 words, maximum 750 words.

In case of late submission, 2 points are deducted for each day started. 0 points will be awarded for reflection that violates the formal requirements (in particular, the text does not answer all the assigned questions/tasks, does not follow the prescribed scope). For reflection, the first submitted version is evaluated - there is no possibility of correction. The main criterion for evaluating the reflection is the depth and concreteness of the answers to the questions asked and the connection of the answers with the topics of the lectures, seminars and in the textbook. Reflections with vague and general answers (e.g. "I learned a lot about human resources management." "I was interested in the topic of employee selection") will be evaluated with a lower number of points. The goal of the task is really reflection, not providing feedback to the teacher. Students should not describe what they liked/disliked, or what should be different in the subject (this is what the subject survey is used for).

Team project: Selection procedure
For questions regarding the team project, please contact Dr. Tomáš Ondráček (tomas.ondracek@econ.muni.cz)
The assignment of the team project is different for ŘLIZ and PEMA students and for full-time and combined study students
Here is the detailed brief for the team project that will be presented in the second seminar. MPH_PEMA students are invited to the second seminar if they want to participate in the presentation of the assignment.

MPH_RLIZ and MKH_RLIZ: the assignment applies to both groups (in the case of MKH_RLIZ, students can connect with students from MPH_RLIZ or process the work separately). If something is unclear, contact Tomáš Ondráček.

Tests
For questions regarding the mid-term and final test, contact doc. Jakub Prochazka (jakub.prochazka@econ.muni.cz)

     Continuous online test
The intermediate test will be written on 16.11. online between 18:30 - 19:00 (added on 13/11/2023: it will be possible to start writing the test from 17:45). The test is written via the answering machine in IS, the student has up to 20 minutes to write it from the start, with the fact that it is necessary to finish by 19:00. The content of the test is the chapters in the textbook belonging to the topics of the first 7 lectures (Wilton, 2022: chapters 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 12) . The test has 10 closed questions with one correct answer. A student gets 1 point for a correct answer. Writing the test is not mandatory. The test has no replacement or correction date. When writing the test, students can use their notes and any online and offline resources except for asking AI questions. Collaboration between multiple students or the use of another person's advice is prohibited.

     Final exam
The final test contains both closed and open questions. The content of the test is based on mandatory literature and material covered in lectures (full-time students) and tutorials (combined students). Most of the questions are of an application nature and require the application of acquired knowledge on model cases. Students can use their notes as well as any online and offline resources when writing the test. The cooperation of several students or the use of another person's advice is prohibited. Students have 40 minutes to write the test. This time is not enough to find the material for all the questions if the student does not know what and where to look.
