Translate the following sentences using modal verbs whenever possible:

 

1. It’s a good thing you didn’t lend him the money. You might never have got it back.

2. Could/Might the bank have made a mistake?

3. I can’t pay you today. Can you wait till tomorrow?

4. They shouldn’t allow parking here; the street is too narrow.

5. I must tell you about a dream I had last night.

6. You mustn’t wear that dress again. You look terrible in yellow.

7. Ann doesn’t have to cook for herself. She works at a hotel and gets all her meals there.

8. He needn’t have bought such a large house. His wife would have been quite happy in a cottage.

9. You can’t/couldn’t be hungry. You’ve just had dinner.

10. The letter should have arrived by now. 

11. How dare you open my letters?
