Assessment method
Tutorials
During the COVID time, we can hardly force the students to attend the tutorials and lectures regularly. Hence, the students bear full responsibility for continuous and rigorous study during the semester.
Final written exam
In the examination period, there will be a written exam consisting mainly of numerical tasks similar to those of the exercises done during tutorials. Similarly to the tutorials, the stress is put on deep understanding and rigorously explained steps, not on (only) on the final value. Even if we are not able to check it, it is not expected that students are using study materials during the exam. The questions on definitions will be reformulated such that they check the understanding of the concepts (not knowing them by heart). Hence, searching for the answer in study materials causes running out of the given time limit.
The written exam will be organized as a ROPOT (odpovědník) in IS. To organize the exam as similar as possible to non-COVID times, prepare for this:
- The testing ROPOT is available at https://is.muni.cz/auth/el/fi/podzim2020/IV111/odp/sampleexam.qref Try it!
- During the exam, all the students will be online in the Zoom meeting room used during the semester for tutorials and consultations. Individual questions will be answered in the breakout rooms.
- The students are expected to know (from the tutorials) what is important and what is not. Wasting time with unimportant comments can lead to a time shortage.
- We strongly recommend that you save your solutions on an ongoing basis (using the "save and continue" button).
- The lector can interrupt individual students during the exam, ask for additional information, and give hints for improvements.
See also the following official sample in the study materials (from previous years)
Based on the points of the written exam, the students will obtain a preliminary evaluation.
- 90-100 A
- 80-89 B
- 70-79 C
- 60-69 D
- 50-59 E
- 40-49 F - with a possibility of an oral exam
- 0-39 F - without an oral exam.
Oral exam
The final evaluation will be assigned after a subsequent oral (videoconference) exam organized again in the Zoom meeting room. It is usually short for those aiming for C, D, or E, and longer for higher marks. The oral-examination dates will be opened after the written exam. They will occur in an ample amount of slots (hopefully some on the same day but mainly on the subsequent days).
Technical equipment
Students have to be able to use Zoom, to be signed in Zoom with OSS cesnet.zoom.us (with official name). Be able to share the screen, sound from a microphone, and face from a camera. If you have a technical, or psychical, or ethical, or any other problem with this, contact the lector for an individual solution (asap).
