Conditions for admission to the exam

During the semester, there will be 3 homework assignments (sets of mathematical problems).

In each of these assignments, you can earn up to 20 points.

For the admission to the final exam, you must meet both of the following:
  • gain at least 10 points from each of the homework assignments;
  • accumulate at least 36 points in total.
Once the homework assignment is released, you have two weeks to come up with a solution. Your solution will be marked and you will obtain a feedback through an e-mail. Should your first attempt to solve the assignment fail (i.e. you obtain less than 10 points or you obtain fewer points than you would like), you have a second attempt which is penalized by loss of 5 points. You obtain the better result of the two. (E.g. you obtain 11 points in the first attempt and you want to try again. You improve your solution and you would obtain 14 points if it was your first try. But since it is your second attempt, the result is only 14-5 = 9 points. Therefore, you obtain max{11,9} = 11 points for this homework assignment.) The time limit for the second attempt is about one week.

The homework assignments will be uploaded to IS and you will be notified by an e-mail. At the same time, the homework vault opens and you can place your solution there at any time during the two weeks. Your solution should
  • be in a single PDF file (made ideally in LaTeX),
  • not be a converted photo of a handwritten text,
  • contain your name.
