This lecture provides students with a basic overview of the EU political system. It explains how the system of EU decision-making has been developing since the start of European integration. It also briefly summarizes the basic functions of current key EU institutions.
Essay topics/questions: Which three EU institutions can be considered the most important when it comes to the making of EU legislation? Provide their basic roles in the EU decision-making process and try to evaluate which one – and why – can be perceived as the most powerful one.
