Over its historical development, the process of European integration has been interfering with every possible policy. This lecture focuses on providing a basic overview of EU policies highlighting the most important ones. Particular attention is paid to the distribution of power between the EU and its Member states and the tools which the EU possesses in the policy-making process. 
Essay topics/questions: Explain the difference between regulation and directive. Which of these two types of legal acts gives more space and possibilities for EU Member states when implementing the content of legislation? Explain your answers using relevant arguments.
