WEEK 7: Self-study Lesson: Mock Exam
1. Complete the mock exam. We will talk about the mock exam at the beginning of the next lesson (Week 8), so be ready to speak about the score you got, and your strengths and weaknesses. The mock exam is similar in its format to the JA001 exam, so it can give you some idea about your level of English and point to the areas you should improve. You need 60% to pass this part of the exam.
The time limit for the test is 60 minutes. Start working on the test when you know you will not be disurbed for 60 minutes.

2. Write a formal email
Email Assignment: You are studying at a foreign university. In a three-weeks' time you should submit your project. Write an email (100 -150 words) to your professor in which you will:
1 introduce your project/ research to the professor
2 describe the progress of the project / research so far (what have you done, what remains to be done)
3 ask the professor a question related to your project / research
Submit you email here by 18 April
Note: This is not a credit requirement, so if you do not submit the email, it is not going to influence your credit in any way. However, this type of task is part of the JA001 exam. If you want to improve your writing, you should submit it. You will get feedback on your email. If you receive 6 or less points out of 10 you will be asked to work further on the email and to rewrite it during the credit week.
