Public Health I - practice

Week 1 - Health and Disease

Abstract

This week, we will take you on an insightful tour of the ruling concepts of your prospective career as a healthcare professional. The tour starts with exploring the concept of "health" and how its definition can impact your daily decisions. Then we proceed to learn the heterogeneous theories behind "disease" and how we should think of it conceptually today. The next station will be more revealing for you because you will get an overview of disease classification, burden, and trends. After the short break, the meaty part comes, and you will get a grasp of the basis of disease frequency estimation, including ratio, rate, incidence, and prevalence. At the end of our tour, you will learn "mortality" types and their utilization.
