Week 1: Welcome + explanation of the assignments for the semester + The first topic: Witkin and his experiments
First meeting is on the 29. 9. 2023
Mandatory attendance is 7 lectures.
Midterm and final assignment:
Midterm: At home, each student will prepare positions (both pro and con) to the idea that mood can be altered and programmed (based on the first chapter of “Do androids dream of electric sheep?”, which will be uploaded in the Interactive syllabus). In the class, each student will randomly be assigned a position and would have to make an argument (work in groups). The class will be divided in half, with the lecturer as a moderator. (BOTH positions have to be uploaded in written (there is no mandatory number of pages for the positions, but I assume one page per position is ideal) form to IS system homework vaults a night before the MIDTERM - deadline 9. 11. 23:55 p.m.).
Final exam: position paper (2-5 standard pages) to a short story from the “Stories of Your Life” book, which will be discussed in the final lecture. The short story will be provided to students and uploaded into the Interactive syllabus.
The position paper has to be uploaded to IS system homework vaults by the 8. 12. 23:55 p.m.
In case of absence in the midterm and final discussion, individual date will be arranged for those who were missing.
