Since the beginning of the 50s, the process of European integration has been lasting for more than 60 years. This lecture summarizes key events in the historical development of European integration. It particularly explains how various decades contributed to European integration and how this process gradually changed. Specific attention is paid not only to the processes that were embodied in the European Community but key milestones in other forms of European integration (e. g. EFTA or regional attempts as NORDEK or Nordic Council) are also covered.
