6. Debate: Is ICC an Effective Court? 22 October 2024

The seminar will have a form of a debate. Students will be divided into 3 groups (defenders, opponents, and referees), write a group report for each camp and defend/oppose a statement given beforehand.

Read the file below in order to prepare for the debate.

Deadlines

1. Selection of your groups:  1.10.2024

2. Submission of report (Defenders and Opponents): 18.10.2024, 18:00

3. Debate: 22.10.2024

Submission of report on behalf of referees: 29.10.2024

4. Evaluation: 5.11.2024

Please note a slight change: You will be divided into 4 groups, so the timing changes slightly. Groups A, B and C start with 10 minutes introduction each, afterwards, referees give them 2 minutes (per group) for quick replicas. Then referees allow groups to ask each other questions (each group poses 1 question to each of the remaining 2 groups). Referees prepare 2 questions for every group (I.e. they pose 6 questions maximum).

After the questions, referees allow groups a final 1 minutes statement (3 minutes in total). After final speeches, they leave to decide on the winner.
