Dear students,
Welcome to the PV251 Visualization course. Our goal is to give you a solid overview of the role and importance of visualization, in the context of our everyday life but also as a medium for understanding various research disciplines.
The course is organized in the following way. Each Thursday at 8 AM, there will be a lecture in the D1 lecture hall, where we will be discussing diverse visualization-related topics. Additionally, you have to enroll in and attend the bi-weekly seminars. There, you will practice the individual stages of the visualization process and will be working on your own semestral project, which you will have to submit by the end of the semester. Details about the project content and deadlines will be discussed at the first seminar. The grading system for the project, including possible bonus points, will be presented there as well.
To pass the course, you have to:
1) Submit a project, which is approved by the seminar tutor.
2) Pass the written final exam.
To successfully pass the exam, you have to obtain at least 26 points (out of 50 possible).
Additionally, you can get up to 3 bonus points for a high-quality semestral project and up to 2 bonus points for presenting your project in a voluntary presentation session during the exam period. On the other hand, for late or incomplete seminar homework assignments, you will get up to 2 negative points per assignment. Positive points can improve your grade (but you still need at least 26 points from the exam). Negative points can lower your grade (even to F).
The final grading system is the following:
50-46 points | 45-41 points | 40-36 points | 35-31points | 30-26 points | 25-0 points |
A | B | C | D | E | F |
