Environment, Sustainability and Public Utilities
This course explores the proper role of government in the regulation of the environment. The objective of the course is to introduce students to the study of basic principles of environment, environmental policy, and sustainable development.
It will introduce students to the topic of environmental policy and governance, and develop students' understanding and awareness of contemporary issues in the area. Models and concrete examples environmental policy in the Czech Republic, EU and OECD will be introduced. The course is scheduled to include a visit to the wastewater treatment plant.

- Economic aspects of environmental policy
- Environmental projects and their efficiency and effectiveness, financing Czech environmental policies
- Economic instruments for environmental protection - pollution fees, charges and taxes, environmental tax reform in CR and EU
- Selected subsystems of environmental policy and their management: Energy policy, Protection of the climate system of the Earth and air pollution – Climate policy
- Selected subsystems of environmental policy and their management: Water protection policy
- Selected subsystems of environmental policy and their management: Waste policy
- Selected subsystems of environmental policy and their management: Non-Governmental Organization and their role in the environmental protection
