The proposed study program offers a qualitatively higher level of education in physics compared with secondary education, which gives, together with the basis of business management, economics and law, the way for a very effective communication between research, development, and management structure both their own businesses and institutions of governments as well as EU institutions.
Profession bachelor study programme bent to applied physics disciplines with possibility to specialization in area of plasma physics and medical physics, with presumption to starting in real praxes.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- have a good overview of disciplines experimental solid state physics, plasma physics, optics and applied nuclear physics
- have qualified navigation in the semiconductor industry, advanced plasma technology, vacuum technology, new types of materials
- have good knowledge from management, expanded on the basics of economics, finances and law
- qualified decision-making or management of a large team of people
- lead a group of co-workers or be responsible for a certain scientific project
- have a comprehension of enterprise processes including legal and financial issues
Due to physical and mathematical bases completed the students can also participate in basic and applied research, in specialized laboratories and laboratories of enterprises, in metrology institutions and others. Graduates can apply in both basic and applied research of national and sectoral nature, in laboratory operations and companies, specialized laboratories, metrology institutions, using science, etc.
For all students there is an obligation to pass an exam from professional English and to get two credits for sport activities.
During the course of their studies students should follow the "Study catalogue" for their field of study. The "Study catalogues" is accessible through the faculty website.
By preparation of the Bachelor's thesis, the student proves that he/she is able to able to solve physical or management problem at a middle level of difficulty. The Bachelor's thesis has usually experimental character. In this case the preparation of the thesis includes design of the experiment, managing of the experimental technique, data treatment and interpretation of results.
The written exam should show that the candidate is able to solve tasks at the level of exercises to the disciplines of general physics.
The questions of the oral part of the exam are divided to two areas. In the first area the candidate should prove that he/she is able to
- understand the general ideas of physical description of the reality and concrete formulation of these ideas in individual disciplines of general physics
- understand to the fundamental concepts of these disciplines and their mutual connections
- analyze particular physical problems, characterize them mathematically and propose related experiments including their evaluation and interpretation of results.
In the second area the candidate should prove understanding of fundamentals of the selected field of study. One group of problems is taken from selected chapter of physics such as Vacuum physics, Technologies for deposition of thin films and modern materials, Electronics including automatization and control of physical and technological processes, modern measurements methods and principles measuring devices while the second group of problems is devoted to corporate management, low, corporate and business economics, finances of enterprise.
