The basic aim of education in the field of study Secondary School Teacher Training of Specialized Subjects is to prepare a fully qualified teacher for secondary vocational school holding a requisite knowledge and skills in specialized subject and corresponding didactics. Next aim is to develop attitude towards further selfeducation as a framework of lifelong learning.
The study is designed especially for teachers at vocational schools or apprentice training centres who are not qualified according to act 563/2006 Coll. on Pedagogical Staff and the Amendment to Some Other Acts.
The content of the master's program is a synthesis of acquired professional knowledge and creation of knowledge and skills in didactics of specialized subject. Knowledge of basic course of specialized subjects are further enhanced. Didactic focuses on the issue of didactic knowledge in vocational subject and on the integration with other branch disciplines.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- to apply a comprehensive and systematic structured knowledge and skills in specialized subject
- to apply fundamental knowledge and skills of Didactics of vocational subject
- to have sufficient skills to work as a teacher at secondary vocational school
Graduates are fully qualified to work as a teacher at a secondary vocational school. Moreover, he/she is qualified to work in extracurricular institutions.
The standard duration of studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits for required, selective and elective courses. Required courses constitute the basis of the discipline and make up 32 credits. Principles of control and evaluation of the study are set out in the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk university.
Reflected teaching practices are in accordance with the Framework concepts at PdF MU. The system of teaching practice is set to long term and systematically directed towards developing professional skills of the student and prepare him to a full mastery of the role of teacher.
Contents of the state exam is as follows:
- Didactics of vocational subjects
- Operation of trade and services
- Thesis defense
- Pedagogical-psychological basis for master studies
State examination is based on the disciplines of didactics of vocational subjects. Passing a state exam in the course Didactics of Vocational Subjects a student have to demonstrate the necessary development of skills, mastery of complex knowledge and basic skills for teaching vocational subjects at the secondary vocational schools.
Individual parts of the final state examination may be conducted in writing or oral or in writing and oral forms. A part of the state examination is the thesis defense.
