The study of Social Policy and Social Work focuses on knowledge and understanding of contemporary approaches and methods of social intervention in the spehere of social policy and social work. It also deals with the institutions that carry out this intervention. Students are acquainted with the concepts of modern development of public social policy, social work with clients and their theoretical bases. They are introduced into the methods of social work with individuals as well as with social groups. Necessary knowledge includes also the introduction into the creation and implementation of social policy and social service programmes, and into the methods of their effectivity. The study of legal conditions helps to frame the theory, and the study of methods gives further skills necessary for practical reflection on social prolems, life situtations of clients, and mainly on the ways how to handle them.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- assess clients living situations in terms of interaction between client and his or her (or theirs when client is a group or community) social environment,
- design and accomplish helping intervention fitting the living situation of the client,
- participate in designing target group specific social service programs,
- reflect on ethical problems and dilemmas of designing and doing helping intervention.

The graduates of Social Policy and Social Work Bachelor's programme can find jobs as independent experts and social workers. After completing necessary practical internships, they can aspire to become conception or manager workers in the organizations of social services, social work, social security and employment, in the state as well as non-government or privat sphere. They can pursue career in the creation and coordination of social policy programmes, mainly the policy of social services at the central, regional or municipal level.
