After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• understand basic principles of private finance, corporate finance, and international finance, including their legislation
• understand the functioning, organization, and latest trends on the financial markets and their legal regulation
• analyse economic problems and propose procedures for assessing the impact of accounting and financial solutions for profit including the application of accounting legislation
• apply business, financial, and administrative legislation to solve decision-making situations and administrative procedures and practices
• explain the functions and services of commercial banks and insurance companies and analyse the banking and insurance systems including legislation and regulation

Graduates will have the prerequisites for working in economic, financial, and legal departments of corporations and financial institutions and insurance companies, as well as in public administration.

The standard duration of studies is six semesters. For admittance to the final state examination, students must earn a total of 180 ECTS credits for type A/required, type B/selective, and type C/elective courses. Type A/required courses constitute the basis of the discipline and make up 153 credits (including credits for courses focused on writing a Bachelor’s thesis). Students choose type B/selective courses for a total of 9 to 14 credits according to their interests and intended professional specialization. The remaining 13 to 18 credits credits can be earned from type C/elective courses offered in the curriculum of the given study programme or from other courses offered by any other study programme. The total minimum number of credits is defined by the study and examination regulations of Masaryk University, the guidance note about the general study requirements, and During the course of their studies students should follow the current study catalogue for their year of matriculation. Students can access the study catalogues through the faculty website.

The final state examination in the Finance and Law study programme is oral and has three parts:

- Thesis defence (a projector is available)

- Examination in Economics (student draws one question): questions and methodological guidelines for the exam can be found on the department website

- Examination in Finance and Financial Law (student draws two questions - one question on finance and one on financial law): questions can be found on the department website

After completing the Bachelor’s degree study programme, it is possible to continue further studies in any Master’s degree programme (after satisfying the admission requirements) at the Faculty of Economics and Administration.
