The goal of the two-year follow-up Master's study programme in Sports Management is to deepen the general, expert and theoretical knowledge from the preceding Bachelor's study programme.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • understand the problems of Sport Management
  • manage organizational units
  • demonstrate knowledge of how to work in marketing sports organizations and fundraising
  • apply an academic approach to projects in the domestic and European sports industry

The graduates of this study programme have knowledge and skills to be able to perform independent work in senior management positions in sports organizations, both profit and non-profit oriented, sports federations and associations, the Olympic Committee and will also have special potential to apply to all levels of government, municipal recreation, tourism, in marketing and fundraising companies and to support the preparation and implementation of domestic and European project plans. Based on the knowledge gained they will be motivated to actively deal with issues regarding theory and practice in sport, creative activities and further education.

The rules and conditions for the composition of the study plan of the Master's degree in Sport Management are the following:

a)The requirements generally imposed on the study plans of all accredited programmes at the Faculty of Sports Studies (FSpS) consisting of the obligatory interconnection of specific subjects of the programme with selected subject areas of other accredited programmes at FSpS;

b)Specifics related to the study plan in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University based on previous accreditation procedures and the mutual agreement of both faculties.

The standard duration of studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits in required and selective and elective courses. For all students there is an obligation to pass an examination in English.

Students should follow the study template assigned at the beginning of their studies at Masaryk University on the Information System.

An obligatory part of the programme is professional experience of 30 hours, which is supplemented by supervisor group meetings. This work experience starts in the first semester and continues in the second. In both semesters it is focused on acquiring broader practical knowledge and skills in sports organizations which are profit-oriented and non-profit and also in tourism.

The final state examination is oral and consists of a defence of the final thesis and subject areas.
