Classical Philology – Field of study catalogue MU
Classical Philology |
The study is mostly focused on Latin language and literature, but to a great extent also on Ancient Greek language. The study deepens the knowledge and language competence previously acquired in the bachelor cycle of studies: the knowledge of linguistics (historical phases of development of Latin and Ancient Greek language), Latin literature, late and medieval Latin. Students specialise in areas of their own choice within the framework of facultative subjects: translation, history, literary history, Latin and Greek medieval studies.
Graduates of Classical Philology, MA. are eligible to work as pedagogues at high schools and certain universities. They can also be employed in humanities-oriented institutes of the Academy of Sciences; in archives, libraries and museums; in scholarly or language-oriented jobs (e.g. proof-reading), in publishing houses, the media, bookshops, travel agencies and possibly diplomacy.
