The Bachelor's study programme of Applied Mathematics for Multidisciplinary Studies is designed for students interested in mathematics and its applications. Studies of applied mathematics with a focus on science offer another opportunity to gain an orientation in a wide range of exact and social sciences with their mathematical foundations. The students gain the ability to cross boundaries of the traditionally defined disciplines. The aim of the studies is to educate graduates with a broad general mathematical basis, focusing on the application of this mathematical basis in another discipline. The graduates can find employment in institutions of an interdisciplinary nature.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- apply knowledge of mathematical methods and procedures in their interdependence (without formally exact construction of particular mathematical theories)
- apply mathematical knowledge in another discipline
- address specific problems of practice
The graduates of this study programme are prepared for the studies in the follow-up Master's degree programmes in the same study programme, or, after supplementing the necessary knowledge, in a different study programme. They can also find employment in the banking sector, economic and financial institutions, and business companies or manufacturing industry.
The graduates will be well informed about the basic methods of applied mathematics and statistics, and they will be able to use modern computer software. In cooperation with various specialists from other branches (according to the particular specialization) they can participate in solving specific scientific as well as real life problems. The graduates can find employment in the area of data processing and analysis. They are expected to work in institutions of an interdisciplinary nature.
The standard duration of studies is six semesters. To be admitted to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 90 ECTS credits for required, selective, and recommended elective courses. Required courses constitute the basis of the discipline and make up 61 credits; they are divided into three blocks - basic (57 credits), language courses (2 credits), and sport activities (2 credits). Out of the selective courses, which make up at least 10 credits (without Bachelor's thesis), students choose according to their interests and intended professional specialization. The total amount of credits for required and selective courses is at least 81 credits. Students may choose a Bachelor's thesis in mathematics (10 credits). The total sum of credits for required and recommended elective courses and for the Bachelor's thesis is at least 22.
A practical training is not required.
The final state examination consists of the Bachelor's thesis defence (provided that the student wrote it on mathematics) and of the oral examination.
In the thesis defence, the understanding of the topic and the quality of presentation are evaluated. The oral examination intends to verify that the students are able lead a discussion at a certain professional level, and that they have a general overview of the fundamental concepts and results of distinct branches of the study programme, and on connections between them.

After completion of the Bachelor's studies, it is possible to continue further studies in any Master's degree programme of Mathematics (after satisfying the admission requirements).
