After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• explain the basic principles of the law;
• be kmowledgeable in selected branches of Czech legal order;
• describe the basic Institutes of selected legal branches and their regulation in the Czech legal order;
• search and interprete the legal regulation concerning a certain practical problems;
• decide if there is a need of assistance of a lawyer or not;
• acquire Independently the further knowledge and skills.

The graduates are profiled to work in commercially legal practice and in tax consultancy. The practical and theoretical knowledge acquired in the study are applicable for economists, entrepreneurs, investment intermediaries and public service employees.

The study is also suitable as a suplementary study to another profession.

The standard duration of the Bachelor’s study programme Legal Specialization, the discipline Commercial Law Studies is three years. For succesful graduation it is necessary to obtain a total of 180 credits while maintaining the prescribed structure of the required and selective courses, passing the examinations, credit tests and colloquiums set by the study plan.

The student is obliged to complete successfully the selective courses in total value of 10 credits during the study. The selective courses are announced in autumn and spring semesters of a given academic year. Besides the selective courses from offer of the study plan of his/her study programme, the student is entitled to enroll courses from the study plans of other Bachelor's study programmes realized at Masaryk University as his/her selective courses. For fulfilment of the required completion of the selective courses (including the total credit value for selective courses) only the courses provably related to a graduate's profile of the given study shall be credited. Upon a written request of the student the Vice dean decides on recognition of the course completed at other faculty of Masaryk University up to the minimum number of completed selective courses. The recognition is also conditioned by the fact that the course has not been completed as a required course within the scope of the previous or parallel studies.

During the course of their studies students should follow the Study catalogue" for their year of imatriculation. They can access the "Study catalogues" through the faculty website.

The final state examination consists of two parts, the defence of the Bachelor's thesis and an oral exam in three subjects. The objective of the examination is to verify if the student (graduate) is able to conduct discussion in the chosen area of legal specialization. The objective of the oral examination is not to repeat the examinations in individual courses, but to demonstrate a general overview of basic terms and results of individual disciplines and links between them.

The oral examination consists of two required courses (Commercial Law; Civil Law) and of one selective course. As a selective course the student is obliged to choose one course from these: Labour Law, Financial Law, Administrative Law.

One part of the final state examination is also the defence of the Bachelor's thesis.

By drawing up the Bachelor's thesis (minimum extent of 54 000 signs) the student demonstrates the orientation in the area given by the theme and the ability to formulate independently a professional text under the supervision of a person conducting the Bachelor's thesis. Insight into the theme, orientation in it and ability to demonstrate the knowledge of the given work are evaluated within the defence.

The graduate of the Bachelor's studies may continue in second degree of higher education studies, but only in the study programme Public Administration, the discipline Public Administration (follow-up Master's degree programme) whose completion is not considered for the coherent legal education.

After its completion it is not possible to carry out some professions in judiciary, state prosecutor's office, advocacy etc.

Completion of the Bachelor's study programme does not constitute an entitlement to ensure a study at second degree. The possibility to study at the Faculty of Law MU in the follow-up Master's study programme Public Administration follows the actual Conditions for admittance to study announced for a given academic year.
