The Master’s degree programme in Cultural Sociology is offered by the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University, together with sociology departments at the University of Graz, University of Zadar, and University of Trento as a joint degree. It is unique in its thorough and systematic focus on analytical competences and skills and offers instruction in sophisticated methods of interpretation of social meanings and links between various social phenomena and data. Rather than being a variation on the sociology of culture, which analyses sociological aspects of cultural forms and systems (religion, art, etc.), the discipline of cultural sociology is based on the analysis of cultural aspects of any sociological phenomena, including bureaucratic organizations or economic data.
