Pre-graduate preparation of an educator is focused on development of social competences and skills. The graduate is able to have a positive influence on personal development and the values of children and youth, masters professional skills focused on theoretical knowledge, basic practical social skills and a certain professionally ethic identity too.
The objective of this programme is to prepare educators for the sphere of leisure time and after-school education. Basic and applied pedagogical and psychological disciplines provide a basic knowledge of these areas, and professional competences and skills are acquired through them.
The study programme is for applicants who would like to work with children and youth in the leisure time sphere and also for those who would like to acquire knowledge of contemporary pedagogical and psychological disciplines, which enable communication with people and provide a reflective point of view in terms of education.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- Influence positively the education of various target groups of children and youth
- Increase the potential of various target groups of children and youth, their hobbies and other spheres
- Stimulate values of children and youth
The educational influence of spending leisure time positively is an important social pedagogical factor influencing all the age and social groups. It has been proved that active and meaningful leisure time is an essential part of prevention of drug addiction and other social pathology. Not only is education important during the leisure time but just as important is education about leisure time. The educator is therefore an important pedagogue not only in the school system but also in the area of after-school and leisure education, where the main task is to work with children and youth through activities and skills acquired in one of the possible specializations. Such an expert plays an important role in social pathology prevention, which targets various groups of children and young people.
Three possible specializations are available: environmental education, physical education and drama education. Students choose one of these specialization, which they pass during four terms under the supervision of the particular university department. The knowledge and all the skills are acquired via the study plan of the programme. The standard duration of bachelor studies is six semesters. Students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits.
The field of leisure time pedagogy is focused especially on three specializations, which the students choose from: environmental, physical and drama education. These lessons are taught in small groups mostly through practical teaching. Throughout the four semesters the students acquire skills and competences (both theoretical and practical) which enable them to be a professional in the field of leisure time education.
The theoretical part is provided by these subjects: Pedagogy of Leisure Time, Theory and Methodology of Games, whereas another sphere of practical activities is connected to the subject Methodology of Leisure Activities.
All the students experience practical training, which introduces them to the areas of possible employment, and they also learn about leading programme activities, they gain basic experience and skills in numerous activities, they meet various groups of children and young people and learn about the importance of leisure education activities.

1) Pedagogy (basic topics on Pedagogy, basic topics on Leisure Time Pedagogy)
2) Psychology
3) Bachelor's thesis defence
Selective part of the examination:
4) Methodology of hobby activities (Methodology of Physical Education, Methodology of Environmental Education, Methodology of Drama Education)
