Professional didactics is represented by several subjects that deal not only with teaching the Czech language and literature education for pupils with a different mother tongue, but also with appropriate methods of testing and using alternative teaching methods. Didactic disciplines are also designed to develop teachers' ability to teach in multilingual and multicultural classes.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- prove active deep professional knowledge of the branch and didactic disciplines in the field of Czech language and literature
- explain the specificity of theoretical and methodological attitudes to the issue of education of pupils with a different mother tongue in the process of teaching of Czech language and literature
- be familiar with the current educational concepts and methods of teaching of Czech language and literature
- apply the acquired knowledge and skills in teaching Czech language and literature in primary and lower secondary schools in compliance with didactic knowledge with the aim to develop key competences defined by RVP for elementary education
- independently plan, organize and carry out direct educational activity in the process of teaching of Czech language and literature in multicultural classes
- use various methods of testing and evaluation of people with a different mother tongue (in compliance with Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
- communicate with students with a different mother tongue effectively as well as with their parents or other participants in the educational process
- apply modern technology in the process of teaching, searching for and using appropriate sources of information and technologies independently, and use them critically at school
- provide consultations to solve problems related to the education of pupils with a different mother tongue both in the school and non-school environment (based on acquired knowledge, skills and diagnostic competencies)
- further develop and deepen his/her professional competencies through active self-study
The standard duration of the studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits in required, selective and elective courses. Required courses constitute the basis of the discipline and make up 81 credits (including credits for courses focused on writing a Master’s thesis). In the field-specific part of the studies students may obtain 12 credits in selective courses and 27 credits in elective ones. Another part of the curriculum is the subject called Internationalization in the field of Czech language and literature reflecting the international character of studies at MU.
Throughout the studies, students should follow the rules in the "Study catalogue" published on the faculty website .
The field examination in the Czech language and literature consists of general linguistic text-analysis, answering a theoretical question concerning linguistics and answering a question concerning the didactics of Czech language and style with a focus on pupils with a different mother tongue (based on the list of topics). The oral examination in the field of Czech literature consists of answering a question involving the history of Czech literature from the beginning of literary production in Czechia until the present day as well as literary theory and a question concerning the didactics of literary education according to the topic list. Requirements for the successful completion of the examination of Czech literature are the ability to interpret literary works, taking into account their structural layers as well as the literary-historical context.
