After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• explain and use principal geological terminology
• recognise principal minerals, rocks, fossils used in prehistory
• use geological research methods including geological documentation of archaeological localities, sampling, data processing etc
• solve independently particular archaeological issues using geological methods, interpret results of the research and present the information in written and oral form
• independently study scientific literature written in Czech and foreign languages
• utillise common methods of landscape and laboratory practice and use PC for data processing
• present results of the analyses of landscape and laboratory data in written and oral form

Graduates can find employment in institutes of geological and archaeological research, at universities, cultural institutions, institutions dealing with the protection of the environment and in state administration.

It is a joint-degree study programme combining Geology and Archaeology.

The standard duration of the studies is six semesters. To get admitted to the final state exam, students must obtain a total of 180 credits for compulsory, selective and elective courses of both fields. They have to obtain credits for all compulsory courses and a certain number of optional courses, so that the total number of the credits is at least 180. During the course of their studies students should follow the Study catalogue for their year of matriculation. They can access the Study catalogues through the faculty website.

Practical training linked to compulsory courses is an obligatory part of the study plan for this study programme. Landscape research training and excursions represent optional components of the study plan.

State final exam consists of two parts: 1) theory examination (usually a written test) in both Geology and Archaeology and 2) defence of the Bachelor's thesis on a topic that involves either Geology or Archaeology.

The theory exam measures the knowledge obtained in compulsory courses.

Bachelor's thesis on geological topics may be submitted in Czech, Slovak or English.

After completing the Bachelor's degree programme in Geology Combined with Archaeology the graduates can pursue their further studies either in the follow-up Master's study programme of Geology Combined with Archaeology or other study programmes within Geology.
